Ingredients
Method
Cooking
- Heat a little olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the garlic until softened and fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook for 8-10 minutes, until just barely cooked.
- Stir the cornstarch into the cold water until dissolved, then add the mixture to the boiling noodles. Continue boiling for about 1 minute, then remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the shredded chicken until evenly combined. Do not drain the noodles or broth.
- Allow the noodles to cool slightly for about 5 minutes so the broth thickens into a sauce.
Finishing
- Return the saucepan to low heat. Add the butter, milk, and cheese, then stir for about 3-4 minutes until combined and creamy.
- Top with crumbled bacon or breadcrumbs and serve immediately.
Notes
If the noodles become too sticky after cooling, stir in an additional tablespoon or two of water or milk to restore a smooth, creamy consistency.
