Ingredients

Crispy Tofu
  • 16 oz / 455 g package of tofu (firm or extra firm)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Buffalo Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce
Serving
  • Salad with Caesar, ranch, or bleu cheese dressing

Method

Preparation
  1. Drain the tofu and remove excess moisture by wrapping it in a clean dish towel or paper towels and gently pressing.
  2. Tear the tofu into small chunks, then coat evenly with cornstarch, soy sauce, avocado oil, paprika, and garlic powder.
Cooking
  1. Air fry the coated tofu at 400°F (204°C) for 8 minutes. Shake or toss the pieces, then continue air frying for 5-6 minutes more until crisp and golden.
  2. Melt the butter and whisk it together with the hot sauce. Toss the cooked tofu with the sauce until coated.
Serving
  1. Serve the buffalo tofu with your favorite dipping sauce or add it to a wrap, bowl, or salad.

Notes

To bake this in the oven, cook the tofu at 400°F (204°C) for 20 minutes on a parchment-lined pan, tossing halfway through. Different firm or extra firm tofu varieties may contain more moisture and can require an additional 2-4 minutes in the air fryer to become crisp.
