Ingredients

French Toast
  • 10 slices Hawaiian bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups eggnog
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Raspberry Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 1 tablespoon cold water

Method

Preparation
  1. Arrange the bread slices on a plate and leave them uncovered overnight to dry slightly for improved texture.
Raspberry Sauce
  1. Combine the raspberries, water, and honey in a small saucepan and heat over low heat until the mixture becomes a thin sauce with slight bubbling around the edges.
  2. Stir in the dissolved cornstarch mixture and continue heating for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. Remove the sauce from the heat and set it aside while preparing the French toast.
French Toast
  1. Whisk together the eggs, eggnog, flour, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until mostly smooth.
  2. Preheat a griddle over medium-high heat to about 400°F (204°C).
  3. Melt a small amount of butter on the hot griddle.
  4. Dip each bread slice into the eggnog mixture, turning several times to coat thoroughly.
  5. Place the coated bread slices on the hot buttered griddle and cook for 5-8 minutes. Flip once and cook for another 5 minutes, or until both sides are evenly golden brown.
Serving
  1. Place the French toast slices on plates and top with the raspberry sauce and any desired additional toppings.

Notes

Leaving the bread slices out overnight helps them absorb the eggnog mixture while maintaining a better texture.
