- Place 1 1/2 cups blueberries in a small saucepan. Add water, sugar, and vanilla, then heat over medium-high until the mixture reaches a low boil and the berries begin to break down.
- Stir in the dissolved cornstarch and bring the sauce to a rolling boil. Reduce the heat and simmer on low for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce reaches the desired consistency. Add water one tablespoon at a time if the sauce becomes too thick.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Gently mix in the remaining blueberries and serve warm or cold.
Notes
The recipe uses some blueberries in the cooked base and adds the remaining berries at the end to maintain fruit texture.
