Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 6 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup slivered or sliced almonds
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional)
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
Topping
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Combine the rolled oats, almonds, pecans, flour, cinnamon, salt, and optional sugar in a large bowl, stirring until evenly mixed.
  3. Whisk the vegetable oil and honey together, then add the mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until everything is coated and moistened.
  4. Spread the granola mixture in a single layer in a large jelly roll pan, keeping the layer thick rather than spreading it too thin.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20 minutes, stir once, then continue baking for 10 more minutes and stir again.
  2. Sprinkle the coconut flakes over the granola and bake for a final 5 minutes until the coconut is browned.
  3. Remove the pan from the oven and allow the granola to rest undisturbed on the pan before breaking it apart.

Notes

The baking temperature can be reduced to 300°F if the granola seems to be browning faster than desired. Since oven settings may vary, adjust based on how quickly the granola is baking.
